The Seed

As the sun was fading onto the distant horizon, San wondered what the landscape truly looked like, without the artificial projection of a world she could barely remember. Where trees truly stood, nobly rooted in Earth with their roots strong. She had never felt the touch of bark or the cooling shade of the leaves during a hot summer’s day. Now the world was merely a simulation of the real, a hypnotic fantom. A small shudder cascaded through her body, barely perceptible to San in the floating, detached, dream-like state she found herself living in, almost regularly these days.

~ The End.

I chose the name ‘San’ from the character in Princess Mononoke by Hayao Miyazake.
